What these 22 companies actually are

Global pure-play groups, Champagne and sparkling specialists, regional family estates, and emerging-market producers. Every company, exchange and ticker is in the country tables below.

How the index weights them

The BoomCellar Wine Stock Index is market-cap weighted: each company's weight is its market capitalisation in euros divided by the combined market cap of every publicly traded wine company in the index. Share counts are compiled from company filings and market caps are approximate (methodology).

Wine stocks are not fine wine

The companies on this page are listed equities — you own a share of an operating business whose value reflects its sales, brands and balance sheet, not the price of a case of Bordeaux. The other four routes are compared in how to invest in wine.
