Verified 2026-09-09 against two independent carriers of the same issuer release — inderes.se (timestamped 2026-09-08 09:50) and the Modular Finance feed on tradingview.com — which agree verbatim on the approval sentence and on 2026-09-22. 🔴 THIS ROW IS STILL NOT A DELISTING. The exchange has APPROVED and SCHEDULED one. 2026-09-22 is in the future as of this row, the shares trade until then, and an approved delisting can be withdrawn or postponed; `effective` is therefore the PUBLISHED LAST TRADING DAY, not an observed cessation, and the fifth row carrying `kind: "delisted"` is written only after 2026-09-22 has passed and the cessation has been observed. Disposition is unchanged and has been `excluded` since 2026-08-17: VIVA.ST was never admitted to any index, so nothing is removed, no constituent page or country hub redirect derives from this, and no index series is restated. UNVERIFIED as of this row and left named as unread: Nasdaq Stockholm's own decision document was not opened — this is the ISSUER reporting the exchange's decision through its regulatory-information channel, which is the ordinary route by which such a decision reaches the market, but it is not the exchange's own notice; whether the approximately 2026-09-04 and 2026-09-18 settlements occurred; whether compulsory redemption has been commenced; the final acceptance level after the extended period closed 2026-09-11; and the residual free float. Provenance: forwarded to Jukka by Ron Pruett 2026-09-08 — the first time an external contribution has closed a row this registry was holding open. Research signal RS-BC-20260909-01.

What the register shows

Two waves, thirty years apart, with opposite buyers.

From the mid-1990s to about 2006, listed wineries were absorbed by drinks conglomerates. Constellation took Ravenswood, BRL Hardy, Mondavi and Vincor. Foster’s took Mildara Blass, Beringer and Southcorp. Allied Domecq took Montana and Bodegas y Bebidas; Diageo took Chalone. The businesses stayed in the drinks industry and stayed large. What ended was their separate listings, not their independence from private capital.

The recent wave is different. The buyers are financial and family owners rather than strategic ones — Butterfly Equity, Fairfax, the Riesling Ventures consortium, Starwood before them, a family foundation at Schlumberger. Several companies were not bought at all: a majority holder simply switched the listing off, as at Gusbourne and Barón de Ley. And a meaningful minority did not exit, they failed — Evans & Tate, Indage, Boutaris, Vintage Wine Estates.

Here is what this evidence does not support. It does not show that wine is leaving public markets faster than anything else, and the honest reading is that it probably is not. The number of listed companies has been falling for two decades across every market this register touches: US listings went from more than 6,500 in 1997 to about 4,700 in 2024 while total market value rose roughly sixfold, and the London Stock Exchange has lost about a third of its companies since 2015. Wine’s exits sit inside that, and nothing found here shows them to be exceptional. Anyone publishing the opposite is asserting something the data does not carry.

Nor is “bought at a premium” a general rule. It is documented where it happened and only there — the premia in the table above are the ones the offer announcements themselves state, against the baselines those announcements chose. Two of the most recent exits were not premium buyouts at all, and the register says so on their own rows.

What the register does establish is narrower and, for anyone who needs the number, more useful: this is a small population and it is getting smaller. 22 listed wine companies remain in this index worldwide, and the departures have taken exactly the parts of the sector an investor would have wanted exposure to — North American luxury, Nordic scale, Canada, English sparkling. Whatever the cause, the consequence is that diversified public exposure to wine is harder to assemble each year than it was the year before. That is a fact about a shrinking universe, not a prediction and not a recommendation.

This project has published wrong exits. They are kept here with the evidence that killed them, because a correction that leaves no trace teaches nobody and invites the same row back.

Majestic Wine / Naked Wines MJW.L → WINE.L · withdrawn 2026-09-09
FALLEN carried: "Majestic Wine (MJW.L → became Naked Wines)" — i.e. an exit.

🔴 THE WORST OF THE FOUR. Majestic Wine plc never delisted. It renamed itself Naked Wines plc on 14 August 2019 — the same legal entity, TIDM/ISIN/SEDOL unchanged at the time — and it trades on AIM today. It is CONSTITUENT #8 OF THIS INDEX. The register of companies whose listing is gone named a company that is in the index, and the no-company-in-two-lists test did not catch it because it parses the symbol out of the string and MJW.L is not WINE.L. `formerSymbols` in lib/universe.ts records exactly this migration and was never consulted. The test now consults it.

New Silkroad Holding Group 0472.HK · withdrawn 2026-09-09
FALLEN carried: "New Silkroad (0472.HK — pivoted away from wine)" — in a list of gone listings.

Still listed on the HKEX Main Board. Renamed New Silkroad Holding Group Limited on 26 February 2026; its own company profile still describes wine production and sale in China alongside real estate and cultural tourism. Not an exit, and the 'pivoted away from wine' characterisation overstates what the company says about itself.

Source Company profile: an investment holding company listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (stock code 00472), with continuing wine production and sale in China. (read 2026-09-09)

China Tontine Wines 0389.HK · withdrawn 2026-09-03
FALLEN carried it as delisted.

Withdrawn 2026-09-03. HKEX's title register carries 0389.HK as a current primary listing and the exchange's own trading-resumption notice is dated 2026-02-27. It is illiquid, which lib/coverage.ts records as `liquidity-hold` — a different fact with a different consequence. RE-PROBED 2026-09-09 [BC-TONTINE-REPROBE] and the withdrawal is REINFORCED, not softened: the company's own HKEXnews resumption announcement of 2026-02-26 (suspended 09:00 2024-09-02, resumption approved 09:00 2026-02-27 once the outstanding financials were published) is now on the coverage row, and HKEX's own monthly prolonged-suspension report as at 2026-08-31 does NOT list 0389 — a primary negative finding that argues against any long-form delisting proceeding. ⚠ STILL OPEN, and not acted on: a tier-3 aggregator reports a FRESH suspension from 2026-08-07 pending a takeover announcement, SGM 2026-09-28. No primary document for it was found — HKEXnews's title search is JavaScript-rendered and returned empty templates, which is an ACCESS FAILURE, not a negative finding. A suspended listing is still a listing, so nothing here moves either way. Re-verify after the SGM.

Scheid Vineyards SVIN · withdrawn 2026-09-03
FALLEN carried it as having 'gone dark'.

Withdrawn 2026-09-03. It still quotes on US OTC markets — USD 1.00 at the 2026-08-16 probe, USD 0.6886 with a last trade of 2026-07-23 at the 2026-09-09 re-check. lib/coverage.ts carries it as `input-hold`.
