App privacy

The BoomCellar app for Android (package com.boomcellar.app) is published by BoomCellar. It has no account, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no in-app purchase.

What leaves your device

The app makes HTTPS requests to boomcellar.com only, for the published data feeds it shows: the index, the calendar, the Wine Stocks Monthly Brief, and the price series of companies you star. These requests carry no identifier, token or user data. Like any web request, they reach our hosting provider (Vercel), whose standard server logs record the requesting IP address for a short period for security and operations. Nothing else is transmitted.

What stays on your device

Your starred companies (watchlist), the last snapshot of each feed (shown when you are offline), the alerts on/off setting and the record of which alerts have already fired. All of it lives in the app's own storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, erases it. There is nothing to request deletion of, because nothing is held anywhere else.

Notifications

Alerts are evaluated on your phone by comparing each fetch of the feeds with the previous one, and shown as local notifications. There is no push server and no device token is created or sent. Android asks for notification permission only when you switch alerts on; switching them off stops the checks.

Permissions

Internet (to read the feeds), notifications (if you turn alerts on), and the background-work permission Android grants so the alert check can run when the app is closed. No location, contacts, camera, microphone, storage or identifiers.
