How are the indices calculated?
Each index weights its constituents by market capitalisation — share price times shares outstanding — with each session converted at its own exchange rate. Before the base date the series is back-calculated: today's constituents run backwards. Methodology →
What counts as a listed wine company?
More than 50% of revenue from selling wine. Fortified wine — port, sherry, madeira — is wine. De-alcoholised wine is excluded from the numerator, and any constituent where that materially changes the result says so. The inclusion rule →
How often are prices updated?
Prices refresh every 30 minutes; quotes are delayed. Exchange rates: Yahoo Finance daily rates, each currency read through the US dollar (EURUSD and USD pairs).
Where do the share counts come from?
From each company's own filing; every count in the downloads carries the document it was read from. Where the index deliberately counts something else — Bodegas Riojanas and Yantai Changyu Pioneer Wine — it is a dated rule. Data & downloads →
Where do the calendar dates come from?
From each company's own filing or exchange calendar. A month is never turned into a day, and a date from a third party is marked provisional. Listings in the IPO pipeline are read from the filing or exchange notice, never the press. Investor calendar →
What do the moves in the rankings measure?
Share-price moves in each stock's trading currency, to the latest close. A dash means the price history does not reach back that far. Rankings →
What is the COOPER indicator?
Revenue-weighted price path of the listed oak-barrel and closure suppliers, rebased: a read on demand from the wine industry's suppliers. An indicator of listed supplier prices, not a forecast. COOPER →
